Introduction Over on my Youtube channel the Dungeon Crawl Classics solo campaign is going well, but since I can't shoot the videos as often as I'd like I keep forgetting the rules and having to look them up during the sessions, leading to more editing time before I can get the videos online. I decided to start a DCC solo game in my free time, to play offline. This should help me get used to the rules and learn them a bit faster, plus I've been itching to play a traditional hexcrawl campaign lately too. This is a funnel adventure called The Ruined Keep. It's by Daniel J. Bishop and is available for free as part of Sanctum Secorum Episode 3 . I don't even know what that is, to be honest. I just googled free DCC funnels. I've already finished it but I'll transcribe it from my notebook here. The Adventure Twenty peasants of the small town of Grimbrook seek the Oracle of the Crystal Grotto, rumoured to be at the bottom of the nameless ruined keep near the town...
Introduction The Riddle of Steel is an RPG by Driftwood Publishing from the early 2000s which apparently became pretty popular on its release, generated a lot of interest and then faded away into obscurity. From what I can find online it seems the designers made some bad choices in terms of expansions for the game and the company went under. It's very gritty and brutal with rare but powerful magic that prematurely ages wizards who fumble their spells, and a very detailed combat system that reminds me of real life fencing. A bit like what I've heard about Harnmaster. The game is long out of print and very rare, and the company's website has disappeared. Luckily the Quickstart Rules are still online, so let's make a couple of characters and have them fight! Character Creation We're going to make two noblemen from the land of Cyrinthmeir, a rich feudal state ruled over by its king and the Gathering of Lords. The dastardly Count Ofrich has insulted Count Ansert's ...
Introduction Welcome to my solo campaign of Mythras: Classic Fantasy. We did the prep work for this over on the YouTube channel where you can watch the playlist to get up to speed. In the video series we created our hero Tarnen Setor, the son of a successful bowyer in a grim medieval world mostly populated by humans. His mother died long ago and after his father succumbed to blacklung when Tarnen was 26, he saw his life laid out ahead of him, working in the family workshop, having children with a homely wife and then dying mostly likely the same way as his father, never experiencing life outside their settlement. Since he has an older brother who naturally inherited the business from his father, he realised he could follow his heart and give in to the pull of the outside world, setting out for a life of exploration and adventure. His brother and two younger sisters would be able to handle the family business together anyway. Character Stats I made a bit of a mistake in the character c...
