Adventures in a Doomed World: Session 27

I'm playing a mashup of  Scarlet Heroes  and  Basic Fantasy RPG  with a few supplements to turn it into a solo fantasy hexcrawl in the world of Eilobar, a doomed land entering its end times. I'm using the  Level 0 Character Tumbler , Hexcrawl Adventures and some homebrew rules. The characters started as level 0 peasants and have since levelled up to become heroes. Introduction Stilda, Cyna and Bryne are on their way to the town of Seethorpe to meet the dwarven scholar Thiri so they can ask him about the strange rune they've found in two unconnected monster lairs. Along the way they've recruited two potential heroes: Ellyn, a maidservant and Bando, a retired mariner. They're also escorting a lost noblewoman named Lady Eudocia Gerd. She was heading to Seethorpe to buy a painting from a famous artist there but got separated from her guide in the swamp. The Adventure The party makes camp in the swamp after the encounter with the pit vipers. For some reason...

Adventures in a Doomed World: Session 26

I'm playing a mashup of  Scarlet Heroes  and  Basic Fantasy RPG  with a few supplements to turn it into a solo fantasy hexcrawl in the world of Eilobar, a doomed land entering its end times. I'm using the  Level 0 Character Tumbler , Hexcrawl Adventures and some homebrew rules. The characters started as level 0 peasants and have since levelled up to become heroes. Introduction The party, having lost their rogue Helia during combat with a demon cult, are on their way back to their home village of Keyham to recruit a new adventurer before they travel a hundred miles west to the town of Seethorpe. There they'll look for Thiri, the dwarvern scholar of ancient languages who may recognise the symbol they've found in two different monster lairs. The Adventure Stilda, Cyna and Bryne arrive in Keyham at dusk and go to visit their friend Phomund, in charge of recruiting locals when they need them. Has Phomund found any potential recruits? (Likely) Yes. We'll say...

Cepheus: Star Trek Voyager - Episode 1: Phage

Image
I'm playing a solo session of Cepheus Engine: Alpha Quadrant , the Star Trek rulebook for Cepheus. We're playing as the crew of the USS Voyager. Session zero is here . Introduction Here we go, I'm trying out this crazy idea for real now. I'm not starting with the pilot episode Caretaker  as it's not a very strong story in my opinion, plus a lot of the crew get killed by random "bangers" going off all over the bridge, paving the way for characters like Torres and Chakotay to become regular cast members, and I wouldn't want to end up with the original officers surviving and keeping their jobs. For oracles I'll use whichever ones seem good at the time. For yes/no questions including yes but, no but I'll use the one from Scarlet Heroes. I'm starting with season 1 episode 5, Phage , a pretty good one that introduces the Vidiians who are quite an original enemy. The Adventure It's stardate 48532.4, which this converter insists is 24 November...

Cepheus: Star Trek Voyager - Session Zero

Image
Introduction I've been playing a bit of Cepheus Engine lately and enjoying it. While rewatching some old episodes of Star Trek Voyager on Netflix I had the crazy idea of playing through an episode of the show in Cepheus. I could start it from the first major plot point in the first act and begin playing from there, to see how different from the original episode it becomes. Voyager is a good candidate for this since they're lost, 70,000 light years from Earth and can't simply call for help from Starfleet when they're in trouble, and have to survive using their skills and wits. There should also be the chance for some conflict between the player characters as the crew is actually a mishmash of Federation and Maquis people (the terrorists/freedom fighters resisting the Cardassian occupation of Bajor, established in Deep Space 9). To make things even easier I'm going to use  Alpha Quadrant , the free Star Trek rulebook for Cepheus. First I'll have to make the crew...

Adventures in a Doomed World: Session 25

I'm playing a mashup of  Scarlet Heroes  and  Basic Fantasy RPG  with a few supplements to turn it into a solo fantasy hexcrawl in the world of Eilobar, a doomed land entering its end times. I'm using the  Level 0 Character Tumbler , Hexcrawl Adventures and some homebrew rules. The characters started as level 0 peasants and have since levelled up to become heroes. Introduction Today the party will set off for Vathmang Temple with Aentheorn the priest. He has some experience in his job so he'll be a level 1 cleric but he's not a Scarlet Hero so he won't get a fray die. We'll roll him some stats: Strength:  13 (+1) Dexterity:  5 (-2) Constitution:  14 (+1) Intelligence:  15 (+1) Wisdom:  12 Charisma:  8 (-1) As a cleric he gets one first level spell that he can cast each day, we'll go with Cure Light Wounds. He can turn undead once every five minutes - wow! This gives him a 1D8 fray die that only affects undead creatures....
